Update Galaxy Note 8.0 (LTE) GT-N5120 to Android 4.2.2 XXCMG7

Because there is Android 4.2.2 XXCMG7 Jelly Bean official for your Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5120 (LTE version), you should know how to get the latter updated to it. And you will, because this guide is here to show you that.

Requirements

The full effect of the firmware is yours to experience if you follow our tutorial. First, we advise you to consider some pre-requisites:
  • make backups;
  • charge the battery of the phone;
  • choose the USB drivers that are available for your phone and save them on your notebook;
  • use the model whose bootloader comes unlocked;
  • turn on USB debugging.

Important instructions

On to what is the more pressing matter now: how to update your phone to the Android 4.2.2 N5120XXCMG7 Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5120 from LTE.

Your laptop needs to be open so that you can download the below on it:

- Odin v3.07

- the Android 4.2.2 N5120XXCMG7 Jelly Bean OTA.

The files we just said before this should be unzipped on the PC and you can after that search for these:

- Odin3 v3.07.exe

- .tar.md5.

Switch, once the files are on your notebook, the smartphone; afterwards be sure to enter the handset in

Download Mode by looking at the next instructions:

- press + hold, at the same time, Volume Down, Home and Power.

Then the display will shower you in Android logo + a message that is in a triangle. So you can tap Volume Up to be ushered into the Download Mode. Now you can follow the guide up by opening the Odin3 v3.07.exe as Administrator. Your smartphone needs to be in close connection to the personal comp via the phone's USB cord. If the plugging does not work at all, we recommend you to give these two options a try:

- use a USB port which not similar to the one you were using before

- or install, again, the USB drivers.

Now prepare to look at the above guidelines:

- look for "PDA"

- opt for it

- tap a file with .tar.md5 inside it

- click on "PHONE"

- opt for a file that sports MODEM in the name

- tap "CSC"

- choose a file that boasts CSC

- tap "PIT"

- opt for a .pit file that pops up.

Have F. Reset Time, Re-partition (only if you just chose the file with .pit) and Auto Reboot checked. For the update firmware to be on the phone, you need to tap "start". After that file's flashing is done, the phone is going to reboot. After the rebooting finishes, you can wait for a "Pass" message to run onto the display; this message must be followed by a background painted in green. If those are on the screen, you have to disconnect the handset from your notebook and you are done with the guide.

As for issues, you can get them even if the tutorial's steps were all followed 100%. So how about this scenario:

- the phone gets in a boot loop (or doesn't get out of a booting).

Our solution:

- go to the Recovery Mode

- perform "wipe cache partition"

- perform another wiping task that's called ""wipe dalvik cache"

- reboot, when done, the smartphone.

Then, if the device experiences boot animation, you have to:

- enter Recovery Mode

- operate "wipe data/factory reset"

- operate "wipe cache partition"

- end by rebooting the Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5120 (LTE).

"Status 7 error" may happen to pop up on the display. For that to be solved, you have to install the right kernel on the smartphone and then flash the Android 4.2.2 XXCMG7 on the device.
