Update Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3100 (International 3G and Wi-Fi model) to Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3100 (International 3G and Wi-Fi model) is the next tablet that we want to see updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXDMG6 asap.

Requirements

Get this update on your device once you are done reading the following requirements:
  • charge the battery of your tablet;
  • create backups;
  • flash USB Drivers for the tablet on your laptop;
  • use the carrier + factory unlocked variant;
  • turn on USB Debugging.
Your tablet is not going to have root access anymore. So make sure you root it again after you are done with this tutorial.

Important instructions

Please remember to start today's guide by downloading these packages on your PC:

- Odin v3.07

- the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXDMG6 official update.

When the two packages have been unzipped on the notebook, you will get many new files, among them Odin3 v3.07.exe and .tar.md5 (which are the ones that deal with the update). Now that your comp has those very important files, you have to power it off and after that enter it in Download Mode as shown underneath:

- simultaneously press and hold Volume Down and Power

- look for a message of warning

- press Volume Up

- your handset shall boot into the Download Mode.

The Odin3 v3.07.exe must be run as Admin on your laptop and then you should plug your gadget to your notebook; the latter is going to show an ID:COM port in yellow and an "Added!!" message. This will tell you the following: your devices have been successfully plugged to one another; if the case is different, you have to try a second time by opting for one of the solutions below:

- use a different USB port

- re-install the USB drivers.

In the next paragraph we will explain what you need to do for our guide:

- tap "PDA"

- opt for a file that has a .tar.md5 extension

- click on "Phone"

- opt for a MODEM-themed file

- tap "CSC"

- aim for a file which comes with CSC in the name

- tap "PIT"

- choose a file that has .pit as its main extension.

Opt for these boxes next: Re-partition (only should you have already selected the file with the .pit extension), Auto Reboot and then F. Reset Time. Then tap "START" so that the XXDMG6 can begin its journey on your tablet. After that journey is over, you have to wait for the gadget to do these two things:

- restart

- show you a message saying "Pass"

- show you a green background.

After that you should unplug the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3100 from the notebook. When you launch the device, remember to also launch "Settings" and then tap "About Tablet". This way you will check on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXDMG6 official update on your tablet. In case the firmware is missing from your gadget, then repeat the guide from the first step to the very last one.

If you notice your gadget going haywire, which translates into it remaining stuck in a boot loop, you need to:

- enter the Recovery Mode like you did above

- when your device is in that mode, you should do a Wipe Data / Factory Reset

- continue with a Wipe cache partition

- reboot your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3100 via the "Reboot system now" option.
